Fuentespina Reserva is a red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero, made by Bodegas Fuentespina in the village of Fuentespina (Burgos), part of the Avelino Vegas group. The winery began its activity in 1994, born from the merger of the old village cooperative and the Vegas family, who already had experience in other denominations of origin.
This Reserva is a single-variety Tempranillo sourced from vineyards over 70 years old, some of the oldest vines in the Ribera del Duero. After harvest, only the grapes that exceed the highest quality levels — in both structure and character — are selected, since for a Reserva quality is paramount.
The wine ages for 16 months in new French, American and Caucasian oak barrels, then rests for a further two years in bottle before release. The result is a wine with great ageing potential that will continue to evolve over the years: fleshy, with great volume and structure, abundant yet polished tannins, and a long, aromatic and very fine finish.
